Happenings Rachel Jones at Dulwich Picture Gallery
The Wick visits Dulwich Picture Gallery for the highly anticipated exhibition by acclaimed artist Rachel Jones.
“Gated Canyons” is the first solo show by a contemporary artist ever held in the Gallery’s main exhibition space.
Watch as Katy speaks with Jennifer Scott, Director of Dulwich Picture Gallery, and Jane Findlay, curator of the exhibition, and finds out how Jones’ expressive choreography of abstract and figurative motifs is paired with her distinct approach to colour.
As well as a selection of works created over the last seven years, “Gated Canyons” also includes a newly commissioned body of work in dialogue with a work from Dulwich Picture Gallery’s permanent Collection – Flemish artist Pier Boel’s ‘Head of a Hound’ (c. 1660-5).
This Old Master painting resonates with keys themes in Jones’ contemporary practice, acting as a point of departure for these new commissions.
On view now until 19 October 2025.
