This week’s Culturally Curious Hop takes us into the world of Frieze Sculpture 2024 for its 12th edition, a celebration of international contemporary art in the heart of Regent’s Park. Curated by Fatoş Üstek, this year’s edition brings together more than 20 leading artists from across five continents, including iconic figures such as Leonora Carrington, Theaster Gates, and Yoshitomo Nara.
What sets this year’s exhibition apart is its approach to the expanded notion of sculpture. Expect not only striking physical forms but also a rich interplay of sound, light, performance, and even augmented reality, which challenges traditional perceptions of what sculpture can be. Themes of social and environmental consciousness take center stage, as the selected works explore urgent global issues, while also leaving space for play.
18 new works make their debut. The exhibition coincides with the world-renowned Frieze London, Frieze Masters, and London Sculpture Week, the city-wide celebration of public art. With public programmes that include live activations, artist performances, and curator-led tours, this edition promises an engaging, inclusive experience for all.
📅 On view until 27 October.
