Viewing To Be Held

What does it mean to be held? Carl Freedman Gallery has teamed up with BMW to bring us “To Be Held”, a major group exhibition curated by London-born multidisciplinary artist Ronan Mckenzie that explores the meaning of being held and the comfort and acceptance that derives from it. With works by 19 artists, 15 from the UK and four from the US, and three furniture designers, the exhibition is rich in the exploration process and displays a varied and immersive experience.

The show celebrates all things comforting, warm, and accepting. From the works of Alfie Kungu and Mario Moore to the furniture designs of Modular by Mensah and Miminat Shodeinde, “To Be Held” takes you on a journey of the senses and encourages you to let go and relax. This exhibition is an opportunity to appreciate incredible works of art and design and connect with our deepest human desires for comfort and acceptance.

So hop on a train to visit the Carl Freedman Gallery and experience “To Be Held” for yourself. The exhibition runs from 30 April to 25 June. Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to be held in all senses of the word.

Viewing Hilma af Klint & Piet Mondrian: Forms of Life

Prepare to be transported into a world of wonder and mysticism as the Tate Modern unveils its highly anticipated exhibition, “Forms of Life,” featuring two legendary artists of the twentieth century: Hilma af Klint and Piet Mondrian. With approximately 250 works, including paintings, drawings, and archival materials, this exhibition promises to be a feast for the senses, offering the largest presentation of af Klint’s work in the UK to date and the first major UK exhibition in over 25 years to highlight Mondrian’s early works.

Curated by Frances Morris, Director of Tate Modern, at the heart of this exhibition lies an exploration of how both artists sought to understand spirituality and mysticism through their art, delving into esoteric movements such as theosophy and anthroposophy. Visitors will be able to witness how these two artistic titans developed their own visual languages, creating a unique dialogue between signs, colours, and shapes that help make sense of the mysteries of life on earth.
