The Macallan Manor House at Rosewood London

The Rosewood’s spectacular Edwardian courtyard has been transformed into a Scottish-inspired riverside retreat, complete with soft wildflowers, delicate Sottish heathers and irises, luscious foliage and a flower-draped canopy. Taking inspiration from the Speyside home of The Macallan Estate, producers of the world renowned Macallan whisky, Rosewood’s Macallan Manor House is the ultimate summer oasis.

Savour Macallan whisky cocktails while feasting on delicious seasonal plates, including gin cured salmon, griddled prawns with lemon and garlic butter and lamb rump with Jersey royals. If you’re feeling adventurous, try one of the two gastronomic dishes conceived in collaboration with the Roca Brothers that encapsulate ‘the essence, aroma and flavour of the capital.’ For pudding, the Paris-Brest with salted caramel and praline comes highly recommended.

Away from the madding crowds, this alfresco terrace brings a taste of the Scottish Highlands to the heart of London. You’ll feel transported in mind and spirit in no time!

Objects Ocean co-ordinate, Project Zero

Turning the tide. In its commitment to protecting and restoring the ocean, global movement Project Zero has marked Earth Day (22 April) with a new campaign inviting the public to adopt or gift their own ocean co-ordinate. Available in 1km2, 10 km2 or 100km2 in the Arctic, Indian, Pacific and Atlantic oceans, each adopter (already among them is ambassador Cara Delevingne) will receive their own co-ordinate to post on social media with name, longitude and latitude. The campaign is also accompanied by a special, limited-edition T-shirt emblazoned with the words ‘Ours to Solve’ – a reminder for us to take ownership and responsibility in engaging with ocean-friendly behaviours. Time to make waves and save the big blue.

Enoc Perez: Paradise
Guild Hall, East Hampton, New York

A key figure in New York’s thriving contemporary art scene, Puerto Rican-born Enoc Perez is best known for his paintings of iconic American and utopian architecture. What strikes in his works is the absence of people.

For this exhibition at the Guild Hall in East Hampton, Perez has created a new body of work centred on natural disasters — notably the devastating impact of the 2017 Hurricane Maria on Puerto Rico. Instead of focusing on the physical destruction of the hurricane, however, Perez has painted a symbol of hope: bent rather than broken palm trees which allude to the possibility of recovery. Alongside these large-scale paintings will be sculpture, drawings and other works yet to be exhibited elsewhere.

‘One of the beauties of being an artist is that you have a voice,’ says Perez in a short video on the museum’s website. ‘[This exhibition] is a great chance to bring awareness to this natural disaster.’
