Art meets life this weekend with Gallery Weekend Berlin. Celebrating its 19th edition, the weekend kicks off with the opening events on Friday 28 April, and the exhibitions will continue throughout the weekend. Founded in 2005 by a group of Berlin galleries, this event has become a highlight of the international art calendar, attracting established and emerging artists. It’s an unparalleled opportunity for art lovers to experience high-calibre exhibitions and soak up the artistic atmosphere unique to Berlin’s galleries.

With over 50 galleries participating, visitors can explore the city and discover new and exciting spaces. It’s a chance to get a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process, meet the artists and curators, and gain a deeper understanding of the Berlin art scene.

And let’s not forget about the private initiative behind it all – abc gwb UG (limited liability), run by a dedicated team of individuals who pour their heart and soul into making this event a reality each year. With a focus on supporting young galleries and carefully curating the selection of participating galleries, this event is a testament to the power of art and the people who make it all happen. So mark your calendars for 28 to 30 April 2023, and get ready to immerse yourself in the art world like never before. See you at Gallery Weekend Berlin!

Viewing The Nutcracker

Nothing says Christmas quite like The Nutcracker, and happily for us Peter Wright’s much-loved production returns to the Royal Opera House this December. With music by Tchaikovsky and sumptuous stage sets by Julia Trevelyan, The Royal Ballet’s festive favourite is sure to delight children and adults alike.

Set on Christmas Eve, The Nutcracker follows Clara and Hans-Peter on a journey through the Land of Snow and Kingdom of Sweets. During this sparkling two-hour performance, you’ll see a battle between mice and gingerbread soldiers as well as a series of enchanting waltzes performed by a rich assortment of sweets and flowers.

You’ll also enjoy sweeping snowscapes, dazzling scenery and a band of colourful characters, including the Sugar Plum Fairy, the Mouse King and Clara’s godfather Uncle Drosselmeyer. Tickets are selling like hotcakes, so snap them up while you still can.
