The Wick Culture - Object Luna Luna by André Heller

Luna Luna by André Heller
£40

In 1987, the Viennese artist André Heller launched the world’s first art amusement park where the rides and attractions were designed by acclaimed contemporary artists, including Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring and Salvador Dalí. Luna Luna, as it was called, was shut down shortly afterwards but it was lovingly revived in 2022 by Heller and a global team of Luna Luna enthusiasts including his musician son and the megawatt rapper Drake.

In addition to the original 1987 rides and attractions, the reimagined art carnival features a selection of new amusements spanning art, music, food and more. Freshly translated from German to English, this reissue of the original Luna Luna book includes an updated preface by Heller, imagery and commentary around the creation of the original carnival experience as well as a special enamel Luna Luna bookmark. Flick through and you’ll see images of Haring at work, Sonia Delaunay’s vibrant entrance archway and Kenny Scharf’s Wave Swinger Ride. It’s a wonderful deep dive into a time gone by.
