Viewing Edinburgh Art Festival 2026

Leith takes the lead.

Hurrah! Edinburgh Art Festival EAF26 unfolds across Edinburgh’s galleries, artist spaces, museums and community venues, with over 70 events and exhibitions across 40 galleries and venues.

This year, the art component is located in and around Leith. EAF’s new home at EAF @ 92 on Constitution Street is close to Custom Lane and Brown’s of Leith, forming a walkable cluster around the Shore. The new backdrop brings alternative histories, industrial past and sea horizons into view.

The line-up is diverse by nature – at EAF @ 92, Del LaGrace Volcano’s Love Bites Back focuses on dyke photography made between 1982 and 1995, including work from Edinburgh, London and the Highlands. At Custom Lane, Trans Masc Studies presents History is a Home, a gallery and reading room built around alternative trans histories, while Sadao Hasegawa’s Carnal Desires highlights the work of a post-war Japanese gay fetish artist.

EAF stretches far and wide. Emii Alrai’s Guardian is a monumental, fragmented relic on Calton Hill while Lawrence Abu Hamdan’s Zifzafa, presented at Leith Theatre, is a sound piece drawing from activities on the Israeli-occupied Syrian Golan Heights. Into the night, Jupiter Artland summons after dusk dancing with JUPITER RISING x EAF26, as Sgàire Wood curates experimental music and performance in the sculpture park.

What’s on view? Catherine Opie, Sandra George, Jillian Edelstein, Wendy McMurdo, Eva Rothschild and more all appear across the city’s museums and galleries. EAF has also partnered with Falastin Film Festival for its final weekend, bringing Palestinian and Lebanese artists and filmmakers into the spotlight. Time to engage the brain and senses.
