Viewing Karimah Hassan ‘Four Generations’ at Rosewood London

The Rosewood London is a luxury five star hotel in Covent Garden known for its illustrious architecture and interiors, from the elegant wrought iron gates to its heritage boardrooms. The hotel has an established reputation for art, too, with nods to the traditional (see works by 18th century satirist, James Gillray) in dialogue with contemporary names, from Simon Bingle to Eduardo Hoffman, all chosen for their quirky style, riffing on British eccentricity.

The Rosewood also hosts month-long residencies for emerging artists, including one of London’s upcoming generation, Karimah Hassan. Hassan’s new series of six acrylic paintings titled ‘Four Generations’ is on display on the lobby and around the breathtaking marble staircase, until January. The striking and surreal images with bold colour and semi-abstract, riotous forms are inspired by Hassan’s mixed Welsh, Yemeni and Bangladeshi heritage, and the stories passed on through generations. “Four Generations invites visitors to step into my world, where family history, culture, and art come together to bring new life to these beautiful spaces.” Hassan says.

Guests at the Rosewood will receive exclusive watercolour postcards and bookmarks featuring Hassan’s artwork and poetry while her art is in residence. If you needed an excuse to book a room this festive season…
