Objects Jo Malone x Richard Quinn Tuberose Angelica Design Edition Ceramic Candle

Jo Malone x Richard Quinn Tuberose Angelica Design Edition Ceramic Candle
£95

In 2018 Richard Quinn made headlines when the Queen sat front row next to Anna Wintour at his debut catwalk show to present him with the first ever Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design. Now, after developing his brand during lockdown, Quinn has teamed up with royal favourite Jo Malone on a limited-edition collection of candles and scented liners. The collaboration sees Jo Malone’s signature candles, including the Tuberose Angelica seen here, dressed in Quinn’s exuberant prints. ‘It was kind of the perfect collaboration, really,’ he says. ‘We’re both interested in fantasy and florals, so it was a natural fit.’

Object 1 Moncler x JW Anderson Printed T-Shirt

1 Moncler x JW Anderson Printed T-Shirt
£305

JW Anderson’s latest collection with Moncler Genius is a riot of colour. Psychedelic patterns decorate playful silhouettes, while pink, blue, yellow and green are realised on washed cottons, denims and Moncler’s technical fabrics. In signature Anderson style, classic parkas, padded puffers, t-shirts and totes are transformed with surprising details such as leather straps and zips. Our favourite pieces include the multi-coloured sliders, green splotchy trousers and this gender neutral cotton t-shirt. Inspired by upbeat escapism, it has a coiling wave design, classic crew cut and short sleeves. Pair it with cargo pants or a fuzzy hat from the collection to complete the look.

Theaster Gates is the name on everybody’s lips. He’s the creative brains behind the 2022 Serpentine Pavilion, Black Chapel, which has garnered praise from critics and collectors alike, and is the subject of a new solo show at Gagosian in Basel. Until 2 July, he’s also taking over Gagosian’s shop in London’s Burlington Arcade. Shown alongside wall and floor sculptures are a range of clay vessels including tea bowls, water jars and sake cups that are integral to Gates’s practice. Downstairs, the shop has been transformed into a reading room where visitors can browse a curated selection of books that have influenced the artist. Also available for purchase are two limited-edition vinyl records produced by Gates and his musical ensemble the Black Monks. We’d buy everything if we could.

Ninth Street Women by Mary Gabriel
£18.99

This compelling book tells the story of five women who dared to enter New York’s postwar art world. They are Lee Krasner, Elaine de Kooning, Grace Hartington, Joan Mitchell and Helen Frankenthaler. Named after the Ninth Street Show in 1951, which brought together the cream of New York’s artistic crop for one short month, it traces the development of Abstract Expressionism through their pioneering work. You’ll encounter their artistic highs and lows, their romantic and professional relationships, as well their own creative trajectories, life stories and New York studios. This is an engaging account that shines a new light on five powerful but oft-overlooked figures of postwar American art.

£32.99

The life of fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent was a colourful one. Born in Oran, Algeria, in 1936, he moved to Paris in his early teens to pursue his passion for fashion before becoming the head of Dior in 1957 at the age of just 21. By the 1960s, he was at the helm of a revolution in women’s fashion. This sumptuous tome offers a detailed insight into the inner workings of Saint Laurent’s life and art. As you meander through the alphabet, you’ll encounter the people, places and things that inspired him: C is for Costumes, for instance, while J is for Jardin Majorelle, the glorious garden of his electric blue Moroccan retreat. You’ll also saunter along Paris’s Rive Gauche and discover more about his iconic Tuxedo. For fans of the brand and the man, this is a must-read this summer.
