The Wick Culture - The Dark Side of the Moon turntable, from Pro-Ject Audio Systems

Object The Dark Side of the Moon turntable, from Pro-Ject Audio Systems

€1,799.00

On The Wick this week, we’re coveting technology with art and design credentials. Full marks go to this limited-edition turntable – a tribute to Pink Floyd’s album of the same name, which became a global sensation after its release 50 years ago. Part of Pro-Ject Audio Systems’ Artist Series, the turntable recalls the cover artwork of the album, which features a prism that elegantly splits white light into a spectrum of colours. Press a switch on this device and – as your record spins on the platter – an LED-backlit rainbow brings the original artwork to life.

Lucy Whitford

Objects Alcea in White candlestick by Lucy Whitford

£250

South London-based artist Lucy Whitford creates clay forms that tell stories about fragility, strength and tenderness. We like the way this flora-inspired stoneware candlestick leans to one side, adding an off-kilter touch to a table top and celebrating the beauty of nature’s imperfections.

The Wick Culture - Redouté. The Book of Flowers

Objects Redouté. The Book of Flowers

£60

A timeless classic to celebrate the arrival of Easter and the onset of spring. No one has illustrated the floral kingdom quite like Pierre-Joseph Redouté (1759–1840), who devoted his life to capturing the splendour of blooms in Parisian gardens and greenhouses. Often dubbed “The Raphael of Flowers”, he was highly sought after by wealthy patrons, even counting Napoleon’s wife Joséphine as a fan. His watercolour paintings were published as copper engravings, accompanied by botanical descriptions. This collection brings together the finest colour engravings from Redouté’s illustrations of Roses, Lilies, and Choix des plus belles fleurs et quelques branches des plus beaux fruits (Selection of the Most Beautiful Blooms and Branches with the Finest Fruits). Place it on your coffee table to brighten up your home.

The Wick Culture - Eva Hesse blanket

Objects Eva Hesse blanket

£890

German-born, American artist Eva Hesse blazed a trail in the 1960s with sculptures fashioned from pliable materials – from latex to fibre glass – becoming a key figure in the postminimal art movement. She embraced risk and mistakes to create works imbued with an extraordinary character and presence. These blankets from Hauser & Wirth translate one of her ink drawings on paper into more luxurious materials – 100% cashmere or Geelong. We’ve got our sights on the cashmere version: the perfect layer for enjoying the great outdoors this Easter.
