For a dose of mesmerising art, see Sophie Taeuber-Arp at Tate Modern, the first major UK exhibition of the abstract artist to date. Born in 1889, Taeuber-Arp carved out a career as a painter, architect, teacher, writer, and designer of textiles, marionettes and interiors in a time when women in the industry were often overshadowed. Now she is little-known outside of art world circles. This show aims to change that.

Bringing together over 200 objects from across her career, this magnificent new survey reveals her to be one of the most innovative artists and designers of the 20th-century avant-garde. Her vivid, geometric compositions and embroideries are shown alongside decorative works, spanning textiles, jewellery, rugs, interior design and more.

A key member of the Zurich Dada, Taeuber-Arp also explored performance art, dancing at the legendary Cabaret Voltaire and creating marionettes for the avant-garde interpretation of the play ‘King Stag’. These are on display alongside the splendid interior design commission for the Aubette, a modernist entertainment complex in Strasbourg, created in collaboration with her husband, the artist and poet Jean (Hans) Arp, and Theo Van Doesburg. It’s gratifying that she’s finally getting the recognition she deserves. An eye-opener, for sure.

Get down to Dodge at Somerset House for top-notch fare, artful dodgems and many, many cocktails. Conceived by one of the world’s most in-demand designers, Yinka Ilori, the immersive courtyard installation is London’s new summer obsession, featuring a bumper car track, Ilori’s outdoor seating booths and a Jimmy Garcia pop-up.

When it comes to food, the Bumper Summer Feast sharer has it all: burrata with English heirloom tomatoes, smoked salmon with crème fraiche and delicious sourdough baguettes from London Bread Factory. From the street food menu, order the chermoula spiced lamb koftas, harissa chicken kebabs or spiced butternut squash falafel wraps. For pudding, there’s a deliciously decadent fudge sundae. Wash it all down with a refreshing beer or glass of fizz from the courtyard bar.

Look online for the range of ticket options. The exclusive weekend Bump & Brunch package, for instance, includes unlimited dodgem rides, a pink grapefruit spritz and a stack of homemade waffles. For those after a night on the town, hit up Dodge Lates, a new series of late-night DJ courtyard takeovers featuring the biggest names in UK music, from Queer House Party to Manara and Anna Meredith.

Every summer, Taste of London transforms leafy Regent’s Park into a foodie’s paradise. The final weekend of this year’s festival (14-18 July) sees top chefs from London’s hottest restaurants serve up taster-size portions of their signature dishes, alongside food and drink stands touting the best artisanal produce, innovative cocktails and more.

With each dish priced at around £7, make sure to arrive hungry! Don’t miss the drippy egg sandwich (made with Clarence Court Burford Browns) from EggRun or La Tua Pasta’s Devonshire crab black ravioli with burrata. Equally delicious is the sweet chilli and miso glazed black cod at Sticky Mango.

For dessert, look to Freezecakes’ scoopable frozen cheesecakes or the super tangy, crisp lemon pie from Napoli Gang. Those with a super sweet tooth should hit up the Savvy Baker’s homemade brookies (yes, that’s a brownie-cookie hybrid). Pair with a glass of fizz from the Laurent Perrier Club House for the ultimate al fresco dining experience.
