Gagosian Open, 4 Princelet Street, London
That’s a wrap. Gagosian presents a poignant exhibition of early works by the renowned artist Christo at 4 Princelet Street in London’s East End, curated by Elena Geuna. This exhibition serves as the inaugural project in the Gagosian Open series, an innovative program dedicated to showcasing exceptional art in unconventional settings.
The showcased artworks, dating mostly from the 1960s and 1970s, reveal Christo’s early creative exploration. These sculptural pieces cloak everyday objects with fabric or plastic, intricately bound with rope or twine. Even at this formative stage of his career, Christo demonstrated a profound ability to respond to domestic and urban environments, emphasising often overlooked details by obscuring them from view.
Christo and his artistic collaborator, Jeanne-Claude, are celebrated for their monumental temporary artworks, redefining the interplay between art and public spaces and pushing the boundaries of scale.

Alison Jacques Gallery presents ‘Sheila Hicks: Infinite Potential,’ a captivating inaugural exhibition at their brand-new Mayfair location on 22 Cork Street.
Renowned artist Sheila Hicks, a global advocate and pioneer, has enjoyed a long-standing collaboration with Alison Jacques since 2012. Hicks, whose remarkable journey spans a life of artistic exploration and global wandering, has continually deviated from predefined artistic paths. Her insatiable thirst for innovation and adventure allows her to cast humble materials into the spotlight, reshaping our perception of them.
In ‘Infinite Potential,’ Sheila Hicks showcases various series of new works, each contributing to her extensive artistic vocabulary. In a London debut, Hicks introduces an installation of ‘Talking Sticks.’ These wall-based batons, crafted from bamboo and multicoloured pigmented fiber, engage in a visual dialogue with one another, furthering Hicks’ exploration of the joy and potential of colour while expanding the horizons of sculptural possibilities.

British artist Ian Davenport’s latest exhibition presents a grand showcase of contemporary art, featuring his most ambitious work to date and largest ever floor work. The focal point of this exhibit is the awe-inspiring pair of artworks, “Lake 1” and “Lake 2” Developed in his studio in Peckham. These monumental liquid like paintings dominate the gallery space with their mesmerizing lines of poured paint cascading down the walls, converging into a vibrant eight-meter expanse on the gallery floor.
Davenport’s artistic journey, leading to these colossal installations, marks a natural progression in his career, as he explores larger and more ambitious scales. The artist’s creative process involves flooding the gallery with color, allowing the paint to behave like a sculptural entity manipulated by both him colour gravity. This interplay between painting and sculpture is a recurring theme in Davenport’s work.
In his own words, Davenport reflects on this new work, stating, “Working on a large scale brings out themes in painting that interest me, allowing the paint to behave more like a sculpture, with a pronounced relationship to the floor.” This exhibition not only showcases Davenport’s mastery of colour, form, and scale but also invites viewers to delve into the intriguing fusion of painting and sculpture in contemporary art.
