Interview: Fashion Trust founder, Tania Fares
THE WICK:
What does a typical Monday look like for you?
Tania Fares: Mondays are quite busy. I like to start the week with a Zoom call with my team — we brainstorm and plan and align on the week’s priorities.
TW:
You founded and co-chaired the BFC Fashion Trust and later co-founded Fashion Trust Arabia and Fashion Trust U.S. What inspired you to build these platforms?
TF: I’ve always wanted to support emerging creatives and help them create more impact on a global level. The talent is incredible, and building these platforms felt like the most meaningful way to open doors for them.
TW:
Last week at the Fashion Awards 2025, you were awarded a Special Recognition Award for your dedication to supporting young designers. What does this milestone mean to you?
TF:
It was such a meaningful moment — full of love, support, and emotion. A big honor that reflects years of dedication and hard work. Championing young emerging designers for more than 15 years now has been very rewarding. This award wasn’t just a celebration for me, it truly felt like a celebration of everyone we’ve supported.
TW: How are you seeing fashion and art becoming more integrated?
TF: The two worlds are blending more than ever. Designers are thinking sustainably, experimenting across mediums, and using technology and AI in new ways. Creativity isn’t confined to one discipline anymore.

TW:
What innovations or shifts excite you the most about the future of fashion?
TF:
So many – it’s hard to choose. I’m excited by conscious design, digital tools, and the fact that young designers can now build their own platforms and share their work globally without traditional barriers.
TW: Which emerging fashion designer is on your radar?
TF: Honestly, too many to name. Discovering new talent is one of my favorite parts of this work, and the list keeps growing.
TW:
What artwork are you next coveting for your collection?
TF: Daichi Takagi is my son’s favourite artist, and I’ve come to really appreciate his work because I trust my son’s intuition and taste.
TW: What is your favourite Lebanese restaurant to grab a bite in London?
TF: Em Sherif London — always a go-to. It feels like a little taste of home.
TW:
What is the best piece of advice you have received and would like to pass on to a loved one?
TF:
Never give up. Be patient. What goes around comes around. Stay authentic, stay true to yourself, and always hold on to your own identity.
TW: What is your favourite Culturally Curious spot in London?
TF:
The Design Museum, the Serpentine, the V&A – each one inspires me in a different way. I go back to them constantly.
TW: Who is your ultimate Monday Muse?
TF: Amanda Harlech
